QuickSOAP Classic is Being Retired: How to Switch to QuickSOAP Advanced

QuickSOAP Classic is being retired on June 17, 2026. All accounts move to QuickSOAP Advanced automatically on that date. This guide shows you how to try Advanced and, if needed, recreate any customization you had in Classic.

⚠️ If you used Classic without customizing it, there's nothing to do — QuickSOAP Advanced performs better out of the box and your experience improves immediately. If you had a customized Classic setup, read on before June 17.

Overview

At Digitail, we believe veterinary teams should spend as little time as possible at the computer. This change is a step toward that — producing more accurate, consistent notes with less setup, so your team can stay focused on patient care rather than documentation.

As part of this mission, QuickSOAP Classic will no longer be available after June 17, 2026, and all accounts move to QuickSOAP Advanced on that date.

Test QuickSOAP Advanced first

The fastest way to see what's changing is to just try it. Open the QuickSOAP drawer and toggle the button to switch to QuickSOAP Advanced.

QuickSOAP Advanced was built by studying and working alongside veterinary teams. Because of that, a lot of what you had to set up manually in Classic is now the default — and many of the changes you made in Classic have already been ported into the new model.

So before you configure anything, try Advanced as-is on a few of your typical cases. For most teams it produces strong notes with no customization at all.

If the output works for you, you're done. If something isn't quite landing for your clinic or personal preferences, keep reading — clinic rules and personal rules let you dial it in.

If you need to customize

Customization is actually easier in Advanced than it was in Classic — instead of maintaining a library of example notes, you just write plain-language rules. Here's how the two compare.

Classic needed sample notes to learn what you wanted. Advanced works through plain-language rules: you write clear instructions, and the model applies them precisely and consistently across every note.

Rules are faster to write, easier to update, and you don't maintain a library of examples — one clear instruction produces consistent behavior across your whole team.

Step 1: Note down your QuickSOAP Classic customization

Most users wouldn't have made any customizations or changes to their settings. If you are part of the small group who have, review what your QuickSOAP Classic setup was doing for you before June 17.

By default, you would see a sample transcription with pre-filled SOAP fields. If you have made any changes to how these SOAP fields were captured, make a note.

Common things to capture:

  • Required exam components (BCS scoring, pain scales, dental grading)

  • Drug dosage documentation requirements

  • Language or format preferences

  • How long or detailed you want each section

❗ You won't have access to QuickSOAP Classic settings or training data after June 17.

Step 2: Switch to QuickSOAP Advanced and set up rules

  1. Click the settings button inside the QuickSOAP drawer or use this url: https://vet.digitail.io/administration/tails-agents-settings

  2. Under QuickSOAP AI Model, select QuickSOAP Advanced

Once QuickSOAP Advanced is selected, go to Rules & Preferences in the same sidebar to add your clinic-wide and personal rules.

Clinic Rules (applies to all team members)

Clinic Rules require administrator permissions. If you see a "View Only" badge, contact your practice administrator.

Use clinic rules for standards the whole team should follow. Compliance requirements, documentation protocols, and required scoring systems.

Good example: "Always document body condition score (BCS) on a scale of 1-9 in the physical examination section"

Avoid: "Document the physical exam thoroughly", it's too vague to apply consistently

Personal Rules (applies to your notes only)

Use personal rules for your individual documentation style. Preferred examination order, terminology you use, detail level for specific case types. Personal rules complement clinic rules and don't override them.

Good example: "Always use bullet points in the Subjective Section"

💡 Hint: reference the names of the fields as they appear in the QuickSOAP drawer. This gives you the most control over the output of each field.

Step 3: Test before June 17

In QuickSOAP Settings, go to Preview SOAP Generation to test your rules before the switch.

Four example consultations are available; Annual Exam, Quality of Life, Emergency Visit, and Puppy Check.

Process whichever case types are most representative of your typical workload and review the output.

Confirm your clinic rules and personal rules are being applied correctly. More specific, action-oriented language produces more consistent results.

Adjust the wording of any rules that aren't landing as expected.

After Retirement (June 17, 2026)

QuickSOAP Classic and its training library will no longer be accessible. All accounts will be on QuickSOAP Advanced.

If you set up rules for QuickSOAP Advanced before the transition, they'll be active immediately.

If you didn't get the chance, you can add them at any time in QuickSOAP Settings, there's no deadline.

Frequently asked questions

Will my QuickSOAP Classic training library carry over?
No. QuickSOAP Classic training libraries are not compatible with QuickSOAP Advanced and will not transfer. You'll recreate your customization as rules in QuickSOAP Advanced instead.

What if I don't set up rules before June 17?
QuickSOAP Advanced already produces more accurate notes than Classic, without any customization. You can add rules at any time after the switch.

Who can set clinic rules?
Clinic rules require administrator access. Contact your practice administrator if you need rules created or updated for your whole team.

What if the output looks different from what I'm used to?
That's normal, especially if you'd heavily customized QuickSOAP Classic. Use the rules system to dial in what you want to see. Things like length, format, language, and required fields. If you're stuck, reach out to our support team.

Where do I go for support?
Use the live chat in your Digitail account.

What is an alternative way to get to QuickSOAP Settings?
Administration -> Tails Agent Settings -> QuickSOAP Agent -> Configure Settings or use this url: https://vet.digitail.io/administration/tails-agents-settings
