How to Customize Your SOAP Note Output
To access the option to customize the Training Data for the Quick SOAP, navigate to a Patient’s Health Card > Add SOAP and click on the Start Quick SOAP button. Simply click on the Training Library option at the top right corner and the screen for Editing Training Data is displayed.
Step 1: Ensure You’re Logged into Your Account
Before making any changes, ensure you are logged into your own user account in Digitail.
🦉 Training data customizations are saved and applied at the user level, meaning your adjustments will only affect your personal SOAP note output.
Step 2: Access the Training Library
Navigate to any Quick SOAP by adding a SOAP to one of your patients
Click on Training Library to access and edit the training data sets
Step 3: Update Training Set Outputs
Open the Training Library, where you will see 4 training sets—these represent the default training data that Tails AI uses to generate SOAP notes.
The transcriptions in these training sets are read-only, meaning you cannot edit them, but you can update how the notes are formatted to better match your preferred SOAP note style.
Ensure you don’t change the context, and read carefully the transcription in order to understand the medical case.
You can update how the notes are generated by using:
Concise, structured notes with bullet points
Medical terminology or acronyms (or completely excluding them)
Detailed, comprehensive notes etc.
🦉 Apply and maintain consistency across all training sets to improve the accuracy of SOAP note generation. Make sure to update all sets.
If you are going to add your own Custom Training Data, ensure to apply the same structure to the Tails Training Data too; all 6 need to follow the same pattern.
Step 4: Apply Changes
Click “Apply Changes” to save your updates.
The system will begin learning from your modifications.
🦉 Note: Updating the 4 default Tails Training Data outputs helps Tails AI adapt its behavior to your preferred format.
You can also add 2 additional custom training sets under Custom Training Data tab, where you have the flexibility to include both the transcription input and the corresponding SOAP output for further refinement.
Ensure to apply the same structure across all training sets. All 6 need to follow the same pattern.
Step 5: Process Transcriptions & Review Results
Run a few test transcriptions to evaluate whether your updated training data is influencing the SOAP note output.
If needed, return to the Training Library and refine formatting further.
Repeat this process until the output meets your expectations.
🦉 If at any point you want to reset your changes, you can revert the training data back to the default setup.
Things to Watch Out For
❗ Consistency Matters – Ensure that all training data outputs follow the same structure to increase accuracy of SOAP note processing.
❗ Processing May Take Time – Running multiple transcriptions may be required before changes fully reflect in generated notes.
💡 Edits Can Be Reversed – If the output doesn’t match expectations, you can use the Revert to Default button to restore the defaults in the Training Library.
