Highlights of the Blue Rabbit integration
Read-only integration: Import client & patient info into Blue Rabbit
The Read integration allows Blue Rabbit to access and import Client and Patient information from Digitail, avoiding the need to manually re-enter data when creating prescriptions.
To enable Read-only access:
Log in to the Blue Rabbit Practice Portal
Navigate to Settings → Practice Settings
Click Connect with Digitail
Enter your Digitail Email and Password to log in when redirected
Once authenticated, you’ll be returned to Blue Rabbit and your integration will be connected
📌 Only users with Admin or Vet Admin roles can access the integration settings.
Writeback integration: Sync prescription records to Digitail
Once the Read connection is active, you can enable the Writeback functionality, which allows prescriptions created in Blue Rabbit to be saved directly in Digitail’s Patient records.
To enable Writeback:
In Blue Rabbit, go to User Management
Select a user with prescribing privileges (e.g., veterinarian)
Under the PIMS Link section, click Edit
Search and link the correct Digitail user
The association will now appear in the user’s PIMS Link section
This ensures that prescriptions written in Blue Rabbit are properly attributed to the authorizing prescriber in Digitail.
Authorizing a prescription in Blue Rabbit
Once the setup is complete, prescriptions issued in Blue Rabbit will be automatically written back to Digitail.
The veterinarian (or delegate) can either proactively prescribe or approve a client-initiated request
You may optionally link the prescription to an existing SOAP/Consultation record in Digitail
The prescription details will appear under Medications on the Patient Health Card in Digitail
If the prescription or refill were associated to a Record, the details can also be found in the Plan section of the SOAP, the 'Medications' tab
Updating refills from the online storefront
If a client places an order via the practice’s Blue Rabbit online storefront and the pharmacy accepts the fill request, Blue Rabbit will update the prescription record in Digitail to reflect the correct number of remaining refills.
