Vetsource-Digitail Prescription Management Integration

The Vetsource Prescription Management Integration allows your practice to manage prescriptions directly through Digitail, connecting with Vetsource’s extensive pharmacy network. This integration supports a smoother, more efficient workflow by reducing manual entry and ensuring that prescriptions are accurately processed and tracked.

How to Enable the Vetsource Integration

If you are not an existing Vetsource user, please reach out to them first to set up your account. Once you have your account, you'll be able to finalize the Vetsource-Digitail integration in a few clicks!

If you are an existing Vetsource user, you can follow these steps.

In Vetsource

Generate your unique token in Vetsource

  1. From your Vetsource Practice Home platform, log into the Settings Menu (requires Site Administrator or Practice Manager permissions).*


  2. Under the Practice category, click on Integrations.


  3. Under the Embedded prescription management workflows category, toggle the Status for Digitail in the list view to Enabled.

  4. Click ‘Copy token’.

In Digitail

  1. Go to ‘Administration’ from your user profile.

  2. Under the Integrations section, you’ll find the option to enable the Vetsource Prescription Management integration.


  3. Select the Vesource Prescription Management option and click on Connect.

  4. Paste your copied Vetsource API Key to complete the activation process.

  5. Click ‘Save’.


Using the Vetsource Integration in Your Workflow

Once the integration is enabled, you can begin using it to create home delivery prescriptions and orders directly through Digitail.

Creating a New Prescription (from the Record)

When creating a new prescription for a patient, you’ll now have the option to send it directly to Vetsource. Go to the Medications tab and click on 'Online Pharmacy'.

You'll see a Vetsource popup, where you'll need to confirm some of the information and submit the request. The patient and client details are sent automatically from Digitail, but you need to select the product and units.

  • Client/pet record is automatically copied into Vetource in real-time if they do not exist

  • Existing records are updated in Vetsource based on current PIMS data

  • Updates include ALL fields

Once you save the order, you'll see the Prescription added automatically in your SOAP. It will be marked as "Home delivery | Vetsource" for easy tracking.

Creating a New Prescription (from the Health Card)

You can start a Home Delivery with Vetsource without opening a SOAP. From the Health Card, click on the 'Online Pharmacy' icon to start the order.

Creating a New Prescription (from Vetsource Dashboard)

While not recommended, if you start a prescription directly from the Vetsource Dashboard, the information will still be synced back to Digitail and will be displayed on the patient's Health Card. The prescription won't be associated to any Record/SOAP.

Similarly, if you create a new refill for an existing prescription directly from the Vetsource Dashboard, the refill information will be logged and displayed under the original prescription in Digitail, visible on the Health Card and on the original Record where the prescription was started.

Tracking Orders

Home Delivery orders and prescriptions, along with their status, appear on the Patient Health Card, giving a complete compliance history to help you make informed decisions about a patient's therapy plan.

Vetsource history will ONLY be present when the clinic user has clicked on the ‘Online Pharmacy’ icon or ‘Home Delivery’ button to initiate an order/recommendation for that client/patient.

Keep track of all prescription orders through the Prescriptions tab in Digitail. This allows you to monitor the status of each prescription, ensuring that your clients receive their medications on time.
