What are Greenline rebate vouchers?
Greenline rebate vouchers let your clinic pass manufacturer coupons and rebates on to your clients, while the Greenline integration picks up each voucher automatically. Use this article to set up Greenline discount templates, apply a Greenline voucher to a record so Greenline recognizes the rebate, and take a single payment for the whole visit.
Note: This article assumes your clinic is already connected to Greenline. If you haven't connected yet, see Coupon and Rebate automation with Greenline.
How Greenline vouchers help your daily work
Receptionists and front desk: apply the right Greenline voucher in a few clicks and still take one payment for the whole visit.
Practice managers: Greenline vouchers are recorded in a way Greenline recognizes, and returns of other items on the visit are refunded in full.
Where to find Greenline discount templates
Greenline vouchers use two areas of Digitail:
Setting up Greenline templates: Profile image (top right) → Administration → Client → Discounts
Applying a Greenline voucher: open the record → Payments area → Global Discount field
How to set up and apply a Greenline voucher
Greenline only recognizes a voucher when it's applied as a global discount using a template named "Greenline" with the voucher amount. Follow the four steps below in order.
Step 1: Create a Greenline discount template
Create one Greenline discount template for each voucher value your clinic offers, for example Greenline $10 and Greenline $25.
Click your Profile image in the top right corner and select Administration.
In the left panel, under Client, click Discounts.
Click the Add Discount button in the top right corner.
In Discount Name, enter "Greenline" followed by the voucher amount, for example Greenline $25.
In Discount Description, add the product or promotion the voucher is for, so your team picks the right template (optional).
In Discount Type, choose the fixed amount option.
In Discount Value, enter the voucher amount, for example 25.
Save the discount.
The Greenline template now appears in the Global Discount field on your records. For more detail on discount templates, see Setting Up Discount Templates.
Important: Always use a fixed amount for Greenline templates, not a percentage, so the discount matches the voucher value exactly.
Step 2: Create a separate record for the Greenline product
A Greenline voucher is applied as a global discount, and a global discount is shared across every item on the record. To keep the Greenline voucher on the Greenline product only, put that product on its own record.
Create a new record for the patient receiving the Greenline product.
Add only the Greenline product to this record.
Add the visit's other products and services to the patient's main record as usual.
Note: Use a record rather than a counter sale, so the client and patient details are saved with the Greenline voucher. If the client is using more than one Greenline voucher, create a separate record for each voucher.
Step 3: Apply the Greenline template to the record
On the Greenline product's record, go to the Payments area.
Click the Global Discount field and type "Greenline".
Select the Greenline template that matches the voucher amount.
If your clinic requires a discount reason, click Add a note and enter the reason, for example the product and promotion name.
The Greenline discount now shows on the record total, and Greenline picks up the voucher when the transaction syncs.
Step 4: Take one payment for the whole visit
To keep checkout to a single payment, consolidate the Greenline record with the client's other records into one invoice.
Generate a consolidated invoice for the client that includes the Greenline record and the visit's other records. See Generate a Consolidated Invoice for the full steps.
Take payment for the consolidated invoice.
On the consolidated invoice, each record keeps its own discount, so the Greenline voucher reduces only the Greenline product's total.
‼️Important: Consolidate the records before you take payment. A sale that has already been partly paid can't be added to a consolidated invoice.

Tips and best practices for Greenline vouchers
Set up templates ahead of time: create a Greenline template for each voucher value before your first Greenline sale, so your team never has to stop at checkout.
Keep names consistent: always name templates "Greenline" plus the amount, so they're easy to find in the Global Discount field.
Use the description: note which product or promotion each Greenline template is for.
Check the Greenline Dashboard: confirm which transactions are eligible for coupons and rebates.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Why isn't Greenline picking up my rebate?
Greenline only recognizes a voucher applied as a global discount using a template named "Greenline" with the voucher amount. Check that the template name follows this format and that it was selected in the Global Discount field, not added as a line-item discount.
Can I apply a Greenline voucher as a line-item discount?
A Greenline voucher needs to be applied as a global discount. Greenline doesn't recognize line-item discounts, so a voucher added on the product line won't register as a rebate.
Why was my client refunded less than the item price on a return?
A global discount is shared across every item on the record, so if a Greenline voucher was applied to a record with other items, each item carries part of the discount. Returning one of those items refunds its discounted price. Keeping the Greenline product on its own record avoids this. See How are Discounts Applied to a Sale?.
Can I add another discount to the record with the Greenline voucher?
Each record takes one global discount, and the Greenline template uses it. Apply any other discounts on the client's other records.
Does my client have to pay separately for the Greenline record?
Your client can pay once. Consolidate the Greenline record with the visit's other records into one invoice before taking payment.
Can I use a counter sale instead of a record for a Greenline voucher?
We recommend a record, because a record saves the client and patient details with the Greenline voucher.
