This module is designed for managing historical or older medications, allowing you to view them all in one place. It's also ideal for handling external prescriptions when you need to generate a quick script. Add a Historical Medication
Follow these steps to add a historical medication entry for a patient:
Select the Patient
Go to the Patient tab in the top bar and use the Filter Patient Search to enter the patient's name and locate their record quickly.
Alternatively, click on the patient’s name from their appointment in the Calendar or Flowboard.
On the left side of the screen, make sure the Health Card is selected.
Click on the Patient Notes dropdown and select the Medications tab.
Click the Add Now button to log a new entry.
📌 When a medication entry is already present, the Add Now button will appear on the right-hand side in a distinct purple color.
Completing the Medication Form
The Medication form has a number of fields. Those which are required are indicated below with an asterisk (*); the rest are optional.
Medication* - Medication name (we recommend adding some additional details here, i.e. "100mg capsule", in addition to the name)
Type - This field is set as default to external and cannot be changed. These include prescriptions or medications obtained outside the clinic.
Unit dispensed* - Total number dispensed; be sure to add the quantity unit label (i.e. capsule, ml, etc.)
Direction Label – These instructions will also appear on the print label.
Date Prescribed* – You can enter a date in the past if you're logging a medication previously prescribed.
Prescription expiration* - This is the date after which the medication can no longer be dispensed without a new prescription.
Prescription status :
Active - A valid prescription that can still be filled or refilled.
Inactive - A prescription that is no longer valid, either due to expiration, no remaining refills, or being manually marked inactive.
Internal Notes – Use this field to record dosage changes, additional details, or other relevant information.
This process ensures that historical medications are accurately documented without affecting the clinic’s stock.
View Prescriptions and Medications
All the medications you add will be displayed on your Health Card, along with their relevant details.
You can edit (or delete) an entry by clicking on the Edit icon before the date.
To change the Status (active or inactive), simply click on it and select the preferred one.
📌 You can print the script directly from the medication tab, as shown below.
