How to add a public holiday / day off for your clinic in Team Scheduling?

Easily add a "day off" shift to your schedule

Updated over a week ago

While you can mark a certain day as a day off in your Clinic Schedule, it will not affect the availability of any team members for appointments, neither in your internal Calendar, nor in the mobile app for pet parents.

The availability of a staff member is governed by Team Scheduling page. If there is no working shift on a certain day, this user is not available for online booking, and their Calendar will be greyed out.

If there is a "day off" shift in Team Scheduling page for this user, they will not be available for online booking as well.

To mark a certain day as a public holiday for the whole clinic, we recommend creating a "day off" shift in Team Scheduling:

  • Click on your profile picture in the top right corner

  • Click Administration in the dropdown

  • Click Team Scheduling in the left menu

  • Click + New Shift

  • Give this shift a name, for example "New Year's Eve"

  • Check the box "Mark as Time Off"

  • Start adding people who will be away to the field "Staff". This can take a while if you have many users in your clinic.

  • Make it recurring if this holiday has a fixed annual date

  • Click Publish, you will likely see a warning about shift conflict

  • Click Force Publish if you see that button

At this point, Digitail will publish this shift even for users that have a working shift for that day already.

If there are shift conflicts, you will see them by clicking Conflicts button.

To resolve each conflict, delete the working shift off the day that has this new Public Holiday shift.
