ℹ️ What is Midwest Veterinary Supply?
Midwest Veterinary Supply is a veterinary distributor that supplies clinics with medications, equipment, and consumables. This integration connects your Digitail account directly to your Midwest account — letting Digitail sync your Midwest catalogue and import purchase orders automatically, without manual data entry across two systems.
This integration is currently in beta. If you don't see the Midwest Veterinary Supply card in your Integrations list, contact Digitail support to have it enabled for your clinic.
How to Set It Up
Before you start, make sure you have:
The Access Administration Settings permission on your user role
Your Midwest Veterinary Supply login credentials (same username and password you use on the Midwest website)
Midwest Veterinary Supply added as a Supplier in your Digitail inventory catalogue — this is what you'll select as the default supplier during setup. If you haven't done this yet, add Midwest as a supplier before continuing.
At least one active Vet set up in your clinic
Digitail products you plan to sync with Midwest configured with a 1 unit to 1 subunit formula before linking. For example, a product sold as a 100ml bottle should be set up as 100 subunits — when Digitail receives the order, it will record 100 units, not 1 bottle.
In Digitail
Go to Administration → Integrations.
Find the Midwest Veterinary Supply card and click Connect.
Enter your Midwest Login (username) and Password, then click Connect & Select Location. Digitail validates your credentials directly against Midwest before proceeding. If the button stays disabled, make sure both fields are filled in.
Once credentials are verified, the Map Clinic Locations card becomes active.
Open the Clinic (Bill-To) dropdown and select your clinic.
If a Location (Ship-To) dropdown appears, select the matching ship-to location. The Ship-To selector only appears if your Midwest account has associated ship-to locations for the selected Bill-To clinic.
Open the Default Vet dropdown and select a vet. This vet will be linked to any imported Midwest orders that don't include vet information.
Open the Supplier dropdown and select Midwest Veterinary Supply. All imported Midwest orders will be recorded under this supplier in Digitail. If you don't see it in the list, you'll need to add Midwest as a supplier in your inventory catalogue first.
Click Save to activate the integration.
Link Midwest Products to Digitail Products
Once the integration is active, click Settings on the Midwest Veterinary Supply card to open the Midwest catalogue mapping page.
Find a Midwest product and link it to the matching Digitail product.
Repeat for all products you want to track. You can link multiple Midwest products to a single Digitail product — useful when the same item is available in different package sizes from Midwest.
Products must be linked before any order quantities will update your Digitail inventory correctly.
To unlink a product, you can do this from either:
The Midwest catalogue mapping page (Administration → Integrations → Midwest Settings)
The individual product page in your Digitail inventory catalogue, where all Midwest products linked to that product are listed
How to Use It Day-to-Day
Once the integration is active and your products are linked, Midwest orders that have been shipped will automatically appear as pending orders in Digitail, pre-filled with updated costs and quantities from Midwest. You then review and confirm the order in Digitail to receive the stock.
Quantities are received in subunits based on your product setup. For example, if you order a 100ml bottle from Midwest and your Digitail product is set up as 1 unit = 100 subunits, Digitail will receive 100 units — not 1 bottle.
❗This integration is one-way. Orders must be created and placed directly in Midwest Veterinary Supply. There is no way to send or create a Midwest order from within Digitail.
Vendor-Specific Details
This integration is one-way only. Orders originate in Midwest and flow into Digitail as pending orders once shipped. Digitail cannot push orders to Midwest.
Credentials are validated server-side. If you rotate your Midwest password, return to Administration → Integrations → Settings and re-enter it to keep the connection active.
Multiple Midwest products can be mapped to a single Digitail product — and unlinked at any time. Manage all links from the Midwest catalogue mapping page or directly from the product page in Digitail, which shows all linked Midwest products in one list.
Product unit setup matters. If a Digitail product is not configured with the correct unit-to-subunit formula before linking, received quantities will be incorrect.
Only one active Midwest connection is supported per clinic.
Common Questions
I don't see the Midwest Veterinary Supply card in my Integrations list.
The integration is currently in beta and must be enabled for your clinic. Contact Digitail support to request access.
My credentials are correct but the connection fails.
Double-check that you're using the same username and password you use to log into the Midwest Veterinary Supply website. If the issue persists, contact Digitail support.
The Bill-To dropdown is disabled and shows a tooltip.
This means Digitail couldn't load your clinic list from Midwest. Verify that your credentials are correct, then try reconnecting. If the problem continues, contact support.
Can I change the Default Vet or Supplier after setup?
Yes. Go to Administration → Integrations, click Settings on the Midwest card, update the fields, and click Save.
The Location (Ship-To) field isn't showing up.
Ship-To only appears if your selected Bill-To clinic has associated ship-to locations on the Midwest side. If you expect to see it and don't, verify your Midwest account setup directly with Midwest Veterinary Supply.
Can I create a Midwest order from Digitail?
No — the integration is one-way. Orders must be placed directly on the Midwest Veterinary Supply website. Once an order is shipped, it will appear as a pending order in Digitail for you to review and confirm.
Why are my received quantities wrong?
This is usually a unit setup issue. Check that the linked Digitail product is configured with the correct 1 unit to 1 subunit formula. For example, a 100ml bottle should be set up as 100 subunits so Digitail receives 100 units when the order is confirmed.
Can I link more than one Midwest product to the same Digitail product?
Yes — this is intentional. It lets you order the same product in different package sizes from Midwest while keeping everything mapped to one product in Digitail.
Where can I see all Midwest products linked to a Digitail product?
Open the product in your Digitail inventory catalogue. All linked Midwest products are listed there. You can also unlink them from this page, or manage links in bulk from Administration → Integrations → Midwest Settings.
