Covetrus vRxPro Integration

Connect Digitail to Covetrus vRxPro to keep client, patient, and prescription records in sync between your practice management system and pharmacy.

What is Covetrus vRxPro?

vRxPro is Covetrus's practice-branded online pharmacy, giving clients a branded storefront to order prescription and over-the-counter products for home delivery.

Connecting it to Digitail creates a direct link between your pharmacy and your practice records: client and patient details, along with prescription and order activity, stay in sync without anyone re-entering information twice.

If your clinic already uses Covetrus for prescription management, this integration is what keeps that pharmacy data flowing into Digitail automatically.

How to set it up

In Covetrus:

  1. Contact your Covetrus implementation representative or the Covetrus support team and ask them to turn on the Digitail integration for your practice.

  2. They'll guide you through setting up the integration. Have your Digitail credentials ready to link the two systems together.

In Digitail:

No separate setup step needed. Just make sure the following fields are filled in on every client and patient record, since vRxPro won't sync anything missing them:

  • Client: First Name, Last Name, Email Address

  • Patient: Name, Species, Date of Birth, Sex, Weight

How to use it day-to-day

Most of your interaction with this integration happens in two places: client and patient records, and each patient's Medication tab.

  1. Once connected, any new client or patient added in Digitail is reflected in vRxPro, and updates to existing records (contact info, patient details, account changes) stay aligned across both systems. This sync runs every hour.

  2. When a prescription is written or authorized in vRxPro, it lands directly in that patient's Medication tab in Digitail. Order activity, meaning what's been purchased and shipped, shows up there too, so your team can confirm whether a client actually received their medication without opening a separate portal.

That gives front desk staff and clinicians one place to answer "did my order ship yet?" and one place to catch a fulfillment gap before a client has to ask about it.

Vendor-specific details

  • Sync depends entirely on those required fields. A missing client email or patient weight, for example, will keep that record from flowing to vRxPro at all.

  • When the integration is first connected, only clients and patients with activity in the last two years are pulled into that initial sync. Older records start syncing as soon as there's new activity on them in Digitail.

Common Questions

Why isn't a client or patient showing up in vRxPro?

Two likely causes. A required field could be missing (Client: First Name, Last Name, Email Address; Patient: Name, Species, Date of Birth, Sex, Weight), in which case the record syncs as soon as it's filled in and the next hourly update runs. Or, if the integration was just connected, only records with activity in the last two years were part of that first load. Anything older starts syncing once there's new activity in Digitail.

Why do I see prescription and order history in the patient record?

A prescription entry confirms a script was issued. An order entry confirms the client purchased it and it shipped. Seeing both gives your team a real-time read on a patient's pharmacy activity, and lets you tell a client whether their medication is simply prescribed or already on the way, without checking vRxPro directly.

Why are duplicate records being created in vRxPro?

This happens when a client or patient's details in Digitail don't exactly match an existing vRxPro record, often a misspelled name, a different email, or a date of birth that doesn't line up. Rather than risk linking to the wrong record, vRxPro creates a new one instead. To fix it, either keep the new record and inactivate the old one in vRxPro (the old record keeps its prescription and order history), or correct the mismatched data so it lines up with the existing record, which lets the two link automatically on the next sync. Resolving duplicates quickly matters since an unlinked record means gaps in a patient's medication history.
