Linking Midwest Products to Digitail Products (Coming Soon)

Understand how to link Midwest and Digitail products

What is Midwest Product Linking?

The Link Midwest Products page is where you connect items from the Midwest Veterinary Supply catalogue to your existing Digitail products. Without these links, Digitail won't know which internal product to update when a Midwest order is received — so getting this set up correctly is key to accurate stock control.

This page is used by anyone managing inventory and requires the Edit Products permission to link or unlink items.

  2. Click the link action on that row.

Link multiple products at once

  1. On the Unmapped products tab, tick the checkbox on each row you want to link.

  2. Click Link selected at the top of the tab.

  3. In the modal, select the Digitail product to link them all to.

  4. Click Link Product.

ℹ️ Grouped linking is useful when the same Digitail product is sold in multiple package sizes from Midwest — for example, a 50ml and 100ml bottle that both map to the same internal product.

Other Things You Can Do

Search the catalogue

Use the search input at the top of the page to filter either tab. Type at least 3 characters to trigger a search — fewer than 3 has no effect. You can search by Midwest product name, code, or category. On the Linked Products tab, you can also search by Digitail product name.

Unlink a single product

  1. Switch to the Linked Products tab.

  2. Find the row you want to remove.

  3. Click the unlink action on that row.

You can also unlink Midwest products from the Digitail Product page.

  1. On the Linked Products tab, tick the checkbox on each row you want to unlink.

  2. Click Unlink selected.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Set up your unit-to-subunit formula on each Digitail product before linking. For example, a 100ml bottle should be configured as 100 subunits — Digitail will receive 100 units when the order is confirmed, not 1 bottle.

  • Use batch linking when you have multiple Midwest package sizes for the same product — link them all to one Digitail product to keep inventory consolidated.

  • The Linked Products tab is your source of truth — check here if you're unsure whether a product is already mapped.

  • If the link or unlink buttons aren't visible, you may not have the Edit Products permission. Contact your clinic Administrator to update your User Role and Permissions.

Common Questions

I can't see the link or unlink buttons.

You need the Edit Products permission to perform linking actions. You can still view the catalogue without it. Contact your clinic Administrator to update your User Role and Permissions.

The Link Midwest Products page shows an inactive message.

The Midwest integration needs to be fully set up before you can map products. Go to Administration → Integrations, find the Midwest Veterinary Supply card, and complete the connection setup first.

Can I link more than one Midwest product to the same Digitail product?

Yes — this is intentional. It lets you purchase the same product in different package sizes from Midwest while keeping inventory consolidated under one Digitail product.

My received quantities don't look right after an order comes in.

Check that the Digitail product is configured with the correct unit-to-subunit formula. If a 100ml bottle is not set up as 100 subunits, the received quantity will be off. Update the product setup and re-confirm any affected orders.

Can I unlink a product from the product page in Digitail?

Yes — open the product in your inventory catalogue. All linked Midwest items are shown as a list there, and you can unlink them directly from that page.
