Digitail is fully integrated with PetLink for automatic registration of your PetLink microchips. This will save you time, create an incredible pet parent experience, and ensure each microchip is registered.

You'll need to create a PetLink Vet Account before you can enable the integration. Registering your veterinary practice, hospital, or clinic takes only a few minutes. Follow these simple instructions to register for a PetLink account:

Activating the PetLink Integration

You'll need to create a PetLink Vet Account before enabling the integration. Registering your veterinary practice, hospital, or clinic takes only a few minutes. Follow these simple instructions to register for a PetLink account. If you already have an account, go straight to step 4.

  1. Go to the PetLink website and select “Register” from the navigation bar at the top-right corner of the page, then select “Register Vet Practice” or click here

  2. Fill out the required information requested. Be sure to select Digitail as your software

  3. You will receive an email confirmation when your PetLink account is activated.

  4. Once you get this confirmation, contact the Digitail support team to get your clinic ID, client_api_key and secret_key

  5. Once you have this information from Digitail, email support@petlink.net, letting PetLink know your information from step 4. PetLink will complete the integration on their end and email you when done.

On the first day of the active integration, Petlink looks at any pet record modified/added/updated in the past 90 days and registers microchips starting with 981 that don't already exist in the Petlink database.

How does the PetLink - Digitail integration work?

  1. PetLink scans Digitail for PetLink microchips

PetLink scans your clinic's added or modified pet records every 24 hours to capture details on pets with a PetLink microchip (starting with 981) assigned to their profile since the last scan. This will pick up all newly implanted microchips plus microchips previously implanted but were never registered by the pet parent.

If the microchip is not registered, PetLink creates an account and completes the patient's microchip registration.

  2. The client gets a welcome email from PetLink

Once registration is complete, the client will receive a welcome email from PetLink.

PetLink sends registration result emails to the practice after each data capture, reporting the upload results. These emails identify successful registration, errors, already registered pets, and pets reported as Lost.

PetLink captures the following client and patient details for registration:

How to add a Microchip in Digitail

You can add a microchip when adding or editing a patient or directly from the Record. When you select 'Microchipping' as one of the Visit Types, you will see 2 new fields: Microchip ID and Location of the microchip that will be directly synced with the patients's profile (and PetLink!)
